Traveling to Turkey from Colombia is a desire shared by many people. Especially among lovers of history, culture, nature and the sea, as this country straddling Europe and Asia is very well endowed with all of them. If you are also thinking about it, take a look at this post where we give information on the two main preliminary aspects for a trip of this type: flights and visa. For everything else, you can put yourself in the hands of our agency. We will take care of organizing a tailor-made tour.
Flights to Turkey from Colombia
Turkey and Colombia are far away from each other but, at the same time, they are closer since 2016 thanks to the only direct route currently existing between both countries. The route is Bogota – Istanbul and is operated by Turkish Airlines. The flight time is about 16 hours, although this requires a technical stop at Panama-Tocumen airport. In all these cases, the departure airport is El Dorado, while the arrival airport is Istanbul International (not to be confused with the secondary airport of Sabiha Goçken).
The prices of these tickets depend, of course, on the dates chosen and how far in advance the reservation is made. But their price is not particularly high, compared to other transoceanic routes: in some cases you can find prices from 3,500,000 Colombian pesos.
In any case, it is always advisable to consult alternatives with a stopover: although this increases the journey by several hours, the price may be similar or even lower in some cases. For flights of this type (Bogota – Istanbul with a stopover) the possibilities in terms of companies are extended, as you can also cover the route with Emirates, Air Canada or others, changing flights at airports such as Duba or in European capitals.
As a result, to travel from another city in Colombia to Istanbul or to go directly to another Turkish city, it will be necessary to take a flight with at least one or two stopovers.
Visas for Colombian citizens?
The inauguration of the direct Bogota – Istanbul route is another example of the bilateral tourism promotion strategy between the two countries. Another of the most important is the tourist visa exemption for Colombian citizens: it is not necessary to obtain any type of permit, either physical or virtual, in order to access Turkish soil.
It is enough to have a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity from the moment of the flight. Thus, any Colombian citizen can enjoy a stay of 90 days in Turkey, spread over a period of 180 days, which allows leaving and entering the country for, for example, a cruise in the Greek Islands.
For more details on the types of tourist visas, you can consult this page of our website, where we also mention visas other than tourist visas. In addition, to extend your stay for more than 90 days in the last 180 days, it will be necessary to carry out additional procedures. In any case, we recommend that you consult this point before organizing your trip, as it is a matter that may be modified by different circumstances, such as security or health situation.
After this post, we are sure you will be clearer about how to travel to Turkey from Colombia. But if you have any doubt, you can contact us: our agency does not manage any of these two aspects (flights and visa), but if you organize your trip with us and we can solve any question, we will be happy to do it.
