Traveling to Turkey from Costa Rica is a long journey, but the wealth of monuments and landscapes of this country makes the effort worthwhile. If you already have the trip on your mind and want more details on how to make it happen, take note of the information we provide here. And once you land on Turkish soil, leave the important details of your tour in our hands.
Flights from Costa Rica to Turkey
Thanks to Turkish Airlines‘ huge catalog of flights, traveling to Turkey from Costa Rica is now much easier than before. However, at the time of writing this post (October 2024), there was still no direct, non-stop flight between the two countries, something that does occur from other Latin American airports, such as Chile or Mexico.
But although there are no direct flights, there are numerous options with a stopover, resulting in itineraries from just 15 hours long, in some cases. This is the case when a stopover is made in Zurich (Switzerland) or in Panama, one of the few airports in Central America that does have a direct connection with Turkey, specifically with Istanbul International Airport.
In fact, it is this airport that hosts the vast majority of inbound flights to the country, while all options for a stopover from Costa Rica useSan José International Airport, as is logical. Other cities where a stopover can be made are Frankfurt, Miami, Houston, Paris or Madrid. Everything will depend on the companies chosen to fly, as each one uses some airports or others as hubs. Among the airlines that can organize your trip are Swiss, COPA, Air France, Lufthansa, Air Canada, Iberia, Delta or American Airlines.
As for the price of the tickets, everything will depend on how far in advance they are booked, as well as the dates chosen. If booked several months in advance, on dates that do not coincide with designated days, the price can be available from 1,300 dollars.
Surprisingly, it is possible to find even cheaper flights if two stopovers are selected for the trip. This may lengthen the journey to over 20 or even 30 hours, but may cause the price to drop below $1,000. This option, which is not the most comfortable, can be interesting for those who want to take advantage of the stopover time for personal reasons.
Visa for Costa Ricans traveling to Turkey
In addition to the flight to Turkey, another important question that any Costa Rican may have is whether it is mandatory to obtain a visa to enter this country. And if so, what kind. But the good news is that Costa Rican nationals do not need any kind of visa to enter Turkey, not even an e-visa.
This is so for those who wish to travel in Turkey in a circuit that does not exceed 30 days, within a broader period of 180 days. This is so to facilitate the exit and entry of those tourists who decide to visit also other surrounding countries, such as Greece by means of a cruise around its islands.
It is important to be clear that the permit is limited to 30 days, unlike nationals of other countries who are allowed a stay of 90 days in a period of 180 days. In any case, 30 days is more than enough to tour Turkey’s major attractions: note that our longest tours are approximately two weeks, although they can be customized to extend beyond that period.
As you can see, the visa is not an impediment to travel to Turkey from Costa Rica, nor are the flights. Our agency does not manage these two aspects, but everything else on Turkish soil. So do not hesitate to contact us to organize a trip that you will remember forever.
